First of all I want to start by thanking all of our health care providers for working hard day and night to save lifes. Next, I want to say “You Go Girl! Keep It Going!” to all moms who are safe at home with their kids while homeschooling, working from home, cooking, doing house chores and more. I can’t preach that it is not easy. I am a single mom of three, two which are in school and is bombed with school work, and a three year old who demands my attention all day long.

Not just that, but I still have to go to work on my regular job, and on top of that I own a business that is not just in the beginning stages (which means lots of work and hustle) but I am in the middle of a big project that is about to be launched. Then I have to cook, clean, do laundry, watch my kids, etc. It is not easy ladies. However it is possible if we take the time to check our schedule, see how we manage tasks, how long they take us and which ones are necessary and which ones don’t serve a purpose either right now or in a future.

I recommend for you to take a good time to reflect, write down everything you do and need to do and see which ones you can check out of your calendar and add in. In my case I was already pretty organize with me schedule so there was not much to eliminate, but, I did needed to add at least 2 hours of homeschooling my kids Mondays-Fridays. I had to make the bold choice that weekends are not for studying.

For me my morning routines is non-negotiable, especially now! My mental and physical health is necessary to stay energized and focus during my day so I can perform all my tasks, including being a boss mom. So I had to come with a new schedule where included keeping my work hours intact while still having the time to home-school my kids.

I decided that I needed to wake up at 5 a.m. again, you see, I usually wake up at 6 a.m. so I can have time for me alone to read, journal, meditate and workout before the kids wakes up. This is what keeps me productive during the day. However now that I had two hours off my calendar I had to bring them back, or at least one, so I can still work on my business. I knew that waking up at 5 a.m. again was going to allow me to do that.

As mom and boss ladies, sometimes we need to make hard choices, and right now we are living a time where no matter if it is your own business or work for someone else, you need to work from home and this can be overwhelming if you are not use to it. But, with a lot of deep breaths, positivism and motivation you can do this. I mean at this point, my toddler has interrupted me four times but I know I can’t change that so why get frustrated and angry about it? I just need to listen to her, help her and then seat down and keep writing. You can’t change the current situation and being safe at home, but you can seat down write down your schedule and decide what changes needs to be done so you can squeeze in homeschooling and working from home.

Ever since I put in practice my new schedule, my morning routines has not been compromised, I still do my my routine without interrumptions and feel energized and productive. I can work for my business, get things done and then sit down with my kids and help them do their school work. My life feels in order, feels organized and I feel in control.

My weeks before this new schedule felt like I was all over the place and that I had no control of my day. I felt like I was stressing out and about to have anxiety up to the roof again and if I didn’t organize my day immediately I was going to lose my shit (sorry!), because having kids screaming and fighting all day long on top of all the all the work you have to do is a little too much if you are not organized.

You have the power of choosing where you spend your day, you are the one in charge of where you give your attention to, and if something is not working for you, mentally and physically, then you have the power to make the changes that are needed to be done. I did, and so can you.

How does my schedule looks like?

  • 5 a.m. = I wake up, do my bed, drink water, wash my face and make my coffee. Then I seat down on my living room and read one chapter of the book I am reading at the moment. Then I journal by writing three things I am grateful for today. NO PHONES ALLOWED AT THIS HOUR!
  • 6 a.m. = It is time to workout! Then, shower. This is where I do my skin care routine, hair, makeup, etc.
  • 7 a.m. = Breakfast time. I love to have a super nutritious breakfast smoothies in the mornings to save time in the kitchen, I already cook lunch, dinner and make snacks during the day so I don’t cook breakfast. I also take this time to clean and organize the house, because I do this every day my house is always organized which means it does not take much work and time to do it, however I need to make sure to keep it organized, I cannot work with a mess around me, it blocks my creativity and stress me.
You can read what I do to stay healthy physically and mentally more in details here and check out my breakfast smoothie ingredients as well.
  • 8 a.m – 11 a.m. = This is the time to work on my business. If I have to go to work that day at my regular job, I will go to the kitchen real quick at 10 a.m. and let some lunch preparing so when I come back home it is already cooked.
  • 12;00-12:30 p.m. = I’ll be back from my job ( I clean Air BNB properties and because quarantine I usually have one cleaning every other day) and I will rest and do whatever chills me down. This include going outside, watch birds sing, feel the wind, the sun and my body. I love watching nature, it centers me and brings me back on my A game.
  • 1 p.m. = Time to get back to work for my business and finish anything that need to be done.
  • 2:45 p.m. = Time to check all new assignments for the kids, print them out and organize the area.
  • 3:00-5:00. = Time to seat down with the kids and do homeschooling. I also include a class I was teaching my youngest before quarantine called growth mindset. We are going to be working on something new after all this is over… spoiler alert!
  • 5:00-9:00 p.m.= Time to leave obligations behind and spend time having fun as a family and as a individual. I love to watch TV with the kids, play board games and then seat down and do some reading (another chapter) and my evening journaling which includes writing down my top five positives of the day.
  • 9:00 p.m. = Time to sleep, y’all girl needs to rest to slay the next day, remember, I wake up super early.

Now I am still productive, I am happy, no stress, grateful, safe at home, my kids are still taken care of, my family time is always important and still a priority and enjoyed, I still take deep care of my mental and physical health and I am slaying quarantine like a bad ass boss mom.
